Counselling for Fort St. John, with Camille

The Peace keeps its own clock, works on rotation, and sits a long day's drive from Prince George.

Registered Clinical Counsellor · BC Association of Clinical Counsellors #26894Canadian Certified Counsellor · Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association #11263060

Camille works with clients in Fort St. John entirely by secure video, so nothing about the fee, the availability or the work changes with where you live. What changes is what getting to an appointment in person would have cost you, and that is the part this removes.

Fort St. John is the largest city in BC's Peace region, and it is a long way from the rest of the province: about 440 kilometres to Prince George over the Pine Pass, and further again to anywhere on the coast. Northern Health runs mental-health and substance-use services here, and they are worth using. What the Peace does not have is depth, and specialist care has generally meant Prince George or a flight.

The Peace also works differently from most of BC. Energy, the dams, construction, agriculture and the trades that follow them run on rotation, and a lot of people here split their weeks between home, camp and the Alberta side of the line. Counselling that assumes the same weekday every week, from the same town, does not fit that life. Video sessions can.

Her focus is trauma, anxiety and chronic stress, grief, loss and life transitions. Sessions run in English or Tagalog, including moving between them within one session.

Why a video session suits Fort St. John

  • Built around a rotation, Blocks of sessions during the days at home, or sessions from camp where the connection allows. The camera can stay off, which cuts what a camp connection has to carry.
  • No Pine Pass, no flight, Specialist work that used to mean Prince George or the coast happens from wherever you have a private room.
  • Dawson Creek to Fort Nelson, Taylor, Chetwynd, Hudson’s Hope, Dawson Creek and Fort Nelson on identical terms, with no travel penalty for being further out.
  • Privacy in a small community, Nobody local sees you attend, because there is nowhere to attend.

Sessions in English or Tagalog

Camille works in English and Tagalog, including moving between them inside one session. For a lot of people that is the difference between explaining a feeling and being understood the first time, and it does not require travelling to a bigger city to find it.

What Camille works with

Trauma

Difficult or overwhelming experiences, worked through at a pace you set, building safety and a sense of control first, rather than going straight at the hardest thing.

Anxiety and chronic stress

The patterns underneath high-functioning anxiety, perfectionism and burnout. The kind almost nobody around you can see, because you are still delivering.

Grief, loss and life transitions

Room for the changes you chose and the ones you did not: endings, identity shifts, and the uncertainty that arrives with them.

Camille may suit you if you are

  • Anxious, overwhelmed, burnt out, or running on empty
  • In the middle of a big change, a relationship, a move, a loss
  • Carrying something from before that still shapes how you feel and how you are with people
  • Tired of perfectionism, people-pleasing, or never quite feeling like enough
  • Trying to make sense of yourself alongside culture, family expectations, and what got handed down
  • Disconnected from your body, your feelings, or who you actually are
  • Wanting better relationships and boundaries that hold
  • Looking for someone who brings warmth and practical tools, not just listening

You do not need to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes knowing that something is not working any more is enough of a reason to begin.

Questions people in Fort St. John ask

What time will my session be in Fort St. John?

The Peace stays on Mountain Standard Time all year, so in winter it is an hour ahead of Vancouver and in summer the two match. Check which time zone a booking confirmation shows, and if anything is unclear, ask before the first session rather than on the day.

I work in Alberta part of the time. Can I still have sessions?

Yes, while you are in British Columbia. A BC Registered Clinical Counsellor can only see you while you are physically in BC, so sessions are planned for the days you are back on this side of the line. If you would rather keep going while you are working on the Alberta side, say so when you book: one counsellor here can see clients there, and it decides who you book with.

Can sessions happen from a work camp?

Where the connection and a private room allow, yes. Privacy is usually the harder of the two: a vehicle, a closed room off-shift, or keeping sessions for the days at home are the common answers. Test the connection before booking rather than partway through a session.

Which health authority covers the Peace?

Northern Health. Its mental-health and substance-use services are the public route, and staying on a public list while starting privately costs nothing: the two run side by side.
